We were saddened to learn of the passing of our classmate, Elizabeth Ragsdale. Elizabeth died on April 4, 2025, however, an obituary was just recently seen in The Arizona Republic. Elizabeth was special to me as we became good friends during our younger years as classmates at Encanto/Clarendon. She was a part of our very large and special Brownie/Girl Scout group of friends. Many of these same buddies went on to be a part of our West Class of 1969.
Elizabeth's parents were important leaders in the Civil Rights movement in Phoenix. Due to their leadership and courage, they helped to pave the way for all Americans, regardless of skin color, to enjoy equal access to the rights our Constitution provides. She and her family will be forever remembered for their contributions to society.
May Elizabeth rest in peace and her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.

VERY, VERY SORRY TO READ THIS. LIZ WAS A FUN FRIEND AND ALWAYS SO QUICK/SAVY INTELLIGENT. SORRY SHE PASSED AFTER HER 75TH YEAR. I WAS VERY CLOSE WITH HER YOUNGER SISTER GWEN WHO WAS MORE ACTIVE WITH OUR FELLOWSHIP CLUB AT WEST HIGH. I DO REMEMBER WE WERE ALL VERY POLITICALLY MOTAVATED AND WERE ACTIVE FOR MANY DIFFERENT ISSUES AT THE TIME. IT WAS VERY GOOD TO READ HOW SUCCESSFUL SHE HAS BECOME OVER THESE LAST DECADES. WAY TO GO LIZ!!! MAY SHE BE REMEMBERED IN LOVE. CAROL HAZELETT.

I didn't know Liz, but was aware of the significant role played by her family. I was (and am) very proud to have had her as a classmate and am sad to hear of her passing.

Oh My! We were close friends and I wondered what happened to her when I saw she had not been in contact with our class. We had the best slumber parties. It was there that we were fascinated with her hair! She had a great sense of fun and humor - always laughing and playful. Her parents were so special to all of us - dignity and caring for their community. Her passing fills me with gratitude for her friendship and it always was an honor to call her my friend. Rest in Peace dear one.

I was friends with Elizabeth and her younger sister both at school and because we attended the same church. I was shy around Elizabeth, but I liked her very much and I learned from her. I have often wondered what became of her. Thank you for this post and for the link to the obit. When I visit Phoenix I notice her Dad's name on the executive terminal at the airport and I understand that there is a move to name a new terminal after her father.

Everyone went our different ways at graduation...gradually, we're being brought back together again! Much love to you Liz! "To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world" Dr. Seuss

I was truly sorry to hear of Liz's passing. I wonder why it took a year before we found out. Anyway, I knew Liz very well through our time together in the music program at West. We spent a lot of time together and I wondered what happened to her. I was also sorry to learn of her sister Gwen's passing as well. Rest in peace Liz and may you sing with the angels.
